Apple orchards beneath the Himalayan mountains, home of Farmsons' grower relationships
Our Story

Generational roots, meeting modern operating rigor.

A Kolkata-rooted trading house, entering its next chapter — bringing structure, quality standards and direct grower relationships together in one company.

01

A legacy since 1985

Farmsons carries a family legacy in agricultural trade dating back nearly four decades — rooted in real grower relationships across Himachal Pradesh, Kashmir, and India's mango-growing belts in South and East India.

02

The gap we're filling

India's produce trade has run on informal relationships and local mandis, with little modern infrastructure connecting growers to international buyers. Farmsons is building that layer — from fruit trading, into rootstock distribution and mango export.

03

The Founder

A different background, brought to a traditional trade.

Farmsons is being led into its next phase by its founder, Zahid Shamim — a Computer Science Engineering graduate from Jadavpur University and an MBA from UCLA Anderson, with prior product and technology leadership at Visa and a PropTech company.

He now leads strategy, operations, product and go-to-market for Farmsons — applying global business discipline to a Kolkata-based agricultural trading company. The story is generational roots meeting modern operating rigor: a Kolkata-rooted education, a global business career, and a return to lead the family business into its next chapter.

His vision is to turn a relationship-driven trading business into modern, professional infrastructure — one where growers are named partners, quality is measured to international specification, and buyers anywhere in the world can transact with a single, accountable company. Technology, transparency and traceability are the throughline from fruit trading today into rootstock distribution and mango export next.
